I don’t know about you. but when I think of summer I think of long days at the pool followed by evenings catching fireflies and eating ice cream. I’m pretty sure that is not how I spent all of my summers as a child but I think that is how summers should be. Maybe I’ve watched Sandlot a few too many times đ (If you have never watched this movie I highly recommend it. It is one of my favorites.) Although can you really ever watch it too many times?
Anyway, I feel like summer is rushing past us at high speeds but we are trying to soak up every second of it. Logan is finally getting old enough to start enjoying all these fun little activities. I love soaking up in these special moments and watching him experience it all. He has such a joy and love for everything we do.  This weekend felt like the perfect summer weekend packed full of fun family time.
It started with an invite from our neighbors to watch a movie outside on their giant blow up screen and projector.
It was already 9:00 pm when they asked but who can resist watching a movie outside on a warm balmy night? So we enjoyed Paddington Bear under the stars Friday night. Also, a completely random side note. I’m not a big fan of Cheetos but the neighbors mixed Cheetos and popcorn together and I have to say that was some yummy stuff! I’ll have to remember that for our next movie night.
Saturday was mostly lazy for Logan and me since Shadrach had to work that morning. The evening brought fishing at our family cottage. Logan doesn’t have a whole lot of interest in fishing, so Shadrach and I end up fishing for him instead. We didn’t have any luck but we enjoyed the time at the lake that evening.
Sunday we woke up and had a great family worship service in the back yard. Then we had promised Ivan and Eleora (my niece and nephew who are visiting for a few weeks) that we would head to the local swimming pool. After Logan’s nap we headed off.
It was the perfect day for the pool. Right before we left the weirdest little thunderstorm popped up. It passed by in 15 minutes, but because of this little storm the pool was practially empty. It was glorious!
There is something you should know about Shadrach, he is afraid of heights. Ivan and Eleora somehow talked him into going off the high dive today. I wish I had gotten a picture of his face. He was really not wanting to jump but felt like he had to. Something about male pride. đ There was no way he was backing down after climbing up there. Let’s just say that was his one and only jump. I believe there were words about almost dying, so I don’t think he will be trying that again, ever! đ The kids loved the diving boards though.
All weekend I had been promising Shadrach and the kids s’mores over the firepit in the backyard. However, due to the high temperatures it was too hot for a fire. So we finished off the weekend with s’mores over the open flames on our stove. đ It was the perfect ending to a great weekend.
I hope you had a great weekend and are enjoying your summer!
