“The greatest gift you can give someone is your time. Because when you give your time, you are giving a portion of your life that you will never get back.” – unknown
I think one of the greatest gifts a father can give his family is his time and attention. That’s where memories are made and cherished the most. With Father’s Day right around the corner, it has me wondering what to get the men in my life. So I’ve been searching for a unique gift that would be a perfect way to show some love and appreciation.
The first man in my life was my father. He is such an incredible man and has shown me what a father should be. The example of making time with family a priority has come from him. Because of that, I made sure the man I married had the same priority. Since Father’s Day is upon us, it got me thinking back to the earliest memory I had of my dad giving his time to me.
My Favorite Childhood Memory
One of my favorite memories of my dad goes all the way back to where I was around four or five years old. For some reason on this particular day, he had the day off, but my mom and older brother still had work and school. So, it was just the two of us for the day.
My dad took me to the zoo. I don’t remember every single aspect of the day. The part that stands out to me is when we were eating lunch at some picnic tables by a pond. There were lots of Canadian geese, and we were feeding them some corn chips.
If you know anything about Canadian geese, it’s that they are not the nicest animals, especially when it comes to food. All the sudden we found ourselves surrounded by geese. My dad picked me up and ran to safety.
I’m sure the main reason that this day stands out in my memory is the scary Canadian geese. However, the other thing that sticks out to me is that it’s the earliest memory I have of my dad taking time with me and making sure that I felt loved and special.
He gave me something I cherish to this day. He gave me memories and time spent with him and my family. Memories aren’t something you can buy in a store, and they are worth so much more than anything money could buy.
Fast forward 30 years and I think about the man I married. Shadrach is very much like my dad in the fact that he loves spending time with Logan and me. If given a choice, he would much rather spend a weekend with his family, then do anything else. He values and cherishes the time he gets with us.
So, with Father’s Day coming up, I’ve been trying to figure out how to celebrate the man in my life that gives of himself and his time. The funny thing is that I love buying gifts for people. I enjoy searching for the perfect gift. Usually, I’m good at this, however, when it comes to Shadrach, I am an utter failure.
This year I was hoping to find the greatest gift and hopefully break my streak of striking out. I started thinking about it and realized the perfect gift for the father who loves to give of himself and his attention is the gift of time. That’s when I came across a unique men’s watch.
Giving the Unique Gift of Time
Shadrach has always loved watches. In fact, he’s always wanted a whole watch collection. So, that would have been the perfect gift in the past but you know, life happened, and that wasn’t always in the budget. So, when JORD Wood Watches asked if I would be interested in receiving a watch in exchange for a review, I was excited.
Watches are great statement pieces, and I always like coming across ones that are unique. JORD wood watches do not disappoint. They are beautifully made and simply one-of-a-kind from the gorgeous wood to the exposed gears on the face. That is why I think their men’s watch make the perfect gift for Father’s Day and maybe even an heirloom piece to pass down to your children.
What Makes a JORD Wood Watch the Perfect Gift
So, the question is, what makes these watches so amazing? Here is what stood out to me.
- These unique watches are constructed from sustainable materials. I love finding a product that use materials found in nature. We are a family that loves to be outside and enjoy nature, and this watch is an excellent way to show that! It’s kind of like having a bit of outside with you all the time!
- The glass is sapphire, which is second to diamonds in strength. So, it’s tough to scratch the glass. That is a big plus because knowing my husband, he is all about being able to take care of his belonging and he hates when scratches appear.
- There are no batteries! That’s huge because I can’t tell you the number of batteries we’ve had to buy over the years for the one watch Shadrach owns. The Dover watch (which is the one Shadrach’s received) winds itself with simple movements while wearing it. So you don’t ever have to worry about switching out batteries.
- It looks stylish and expensive, but it’s durable. These watches are made to wear every day. It can be dressed up or down, whatever the day may bring. The one thing to watch out for, if it is worn every day, is water. It can’t be put in water, but a little splash while washing your hands won’t hurt it.
