Summer is here! Don’t mind me; I’m just over here doing the happy dance. I’m so excited to have the sunshine and warm weather. I also love all the fun activities that comes along with this time of year. I feel like this summer is the first one where I can plan to do some of those fun things with Logan. There are so many things that I want to do, I had to put together a summer bucket list!
Before I share our list, please keep in mind that it’s not super long. I’m perfectly okay with staying close to home and not being busy all the time. Instead of making this long list of things that would just stress me out, I decided to keep it simple. I counted how many weekends we had for June, July, and August. This gives us 12 weekends to plan one, maybe two, fun bucket list items for each weekend. So here is our list…
Our Summer Bucket List
- Catch Fireflies (or lightening bugs. I’m never quite sure what the correct name is.)
- Have a Bonfire and make S’mores
- Go on a Hike
- Go to a Drive-In Movie Theater (We have a local one we’ve never been to. So, I figured this summer was the time to try it out!)
- Teach Logan to Ride a Bike (This may be a whole summer thing. I’ll be surprised if it happens in one weekend.)
- Go to a Festival
- Watch a Parade (Somehow we are terrible parents, and Logan has never been to a parade.)
- Go Fishing and Feed the Ducks
- Have a Family Game Night
- Have a Family Water Gun Fight
- Do a Fun Science Experiment
- Visit a Farm
- Have a Picnic
- Go to the Fair
Make Your Summer Bucket List
I have so many amazing memories of my childhood summers, and I want to share those experiences with Logan. I want to make sure that we all put our phones and computers down and get outside and enjoy time together. So I’m hoping that this bucket list will accomplish that.
I want to help you guys make out a summer bucket list for your family also, so I have created a fun little template just for you! All you have to do is print it out, write down your summer must-do activities and put it up on the fridge or someplace you will see it every day. (If you haven’t already subscribed to our newsletter, be sure to do that now so that you can have access to it and also to our other printable.)
Just remember, summer is supposed to be fun, carefree, and not at all stressful. Kids should be allowed to get bored now and then. So, don’t make up a huge list and then feel guilty when you fall short, or stress yourself out trying to keep your kiddos busy every single day. Have fun with it and think about those things that you loved doing as a kid. I’m not sure about you, but my summers were NOT filled with all kinds of activities every single day. I do remember being outside playing with friends and camping every summer. I tried to work camping into our bucket list, but Shadrach wasn’t into it. ???? Maybe next year.
Share Your Summer Memories With Me
My whole goal with having a bucket list is to force Shadrach and me to put down all the electronics and business and focus on Logan and each other. I want to make this the summer that unforgettable memories are made!
So, I decided to start a hashtag, and I’d love for all of you to use it to share your summer memories with me. The hashtag is #unforgettablesummermemories. Make sure to snap a picture, share it on Instagram and include that hashtag so I can see what amazing and fun things you all are doing. I might even share a few of them here on the blog or Instagram.
What about you? Do you make out a bucket list every summer? What do you put on yours? Download your template and make unforgettable summer memories!
