Is the weekend over already? Where did the time go? It’s funny because on the weekends when we are busy I look back and think, “wow that was a long, full weekend.” However, low key weekends, like this one where we stayed close to home, I feel like they fly by!
My niece and nephew, Eleora and Ivan left this weekend. We were so sad see them go and just for the record, I hate goodbyes! I’d rather they be called see you laters. My older brother drove up from North Carolina Friday evening and they left late Saturday morning.
We had the privilege of spending the past three weeks with Ivan and Eleora. The time went too fast and I didn’t get to do everything I wanted with them. The main thing is that Logan loved his time with them and we made some great memories as well.
Later my mom and I did our grocery shopping. Something you should know is that I hate grocery shopping. However, I love spending that time with my mom each week. We shop together pretty much every Friday. Most of the time I’m able to leave Logan at home with Shadrach, so that it’s just us girls. I cherish this time.
Anyway, after groceries, we had dinner at home. The rest of the evening was uneventful and quiet. We played outside a bit with Logan and spent time together as a family.
Sunday we have been doing things a little different lately. It used to be that we would get up and go to church in town. Then about two months ago we started having a worship service here at home with just my parents, Shadrach, Logan, and me.
I know what you are thinking, we are in some sort of cult or something, but we aren’t I promise. My dad is a missionary for NAMB (North American Mission Board) which is part of the Southern Baptist Convention. He is working on starting a church here in our little town of Fort Loramie, so we are opening up our home to the community for worship on Sunday mornings.
I have to say that I am loving the little service we have at home. It’s so much less stressful than getting up and rushing out the door on Sundays.
After church I fixed lunch with some help from everyone. We enjoyed our meal on the back porch and soaked up the beautiful summer day. The rest of our Sunday was pretty uneventful until later in the evening. It really wasn’t an event so much as an inconvenience.
The dryer stopped working right in the middle of doing our laundry! Our only option was to hang it outside. I’m sure it was a funny sight to see Shadrach and me, with a flashlight, at 10:30 pm hanging our clothes out on the line. Thankfully the neighbors couldn’t see us or they might have thought we were crazy. Who hangs clothes to dry outside at night? We do! And just an FYI clothes do not dry in the middle of the night when hung outside.
That pretty much wrapped up our weekend. I hope you had a great weekend too!
