I’m not sure where the time has gone, but I can’t believe that we are well into March already! I’ve been slacking a bit on the blog, and I’ve missed getting our February Family Highlights up! Let’s just say it was a quick but a tough month and I was happy to see it go. Is that terrible?
Anyway, here’s our highlights and major events for February…
Family Movie Night
We try to have family time regularly and sometimes that involves heading out of the house and doing something. Other times it means being intentional with our time at home. So, to kick off February we had a family movie night.
We’ve never actually taken Logan to the movie theater. I’m just not sure that he would sit through a movie and we just can’t justify spending the money just yet. I’m sure it will happen soon. Until then, we have special nights at home with a new movie, candy, and popcorn. Sometimes we curl up in our big bed. This time we made a fun pallet on the floor and watched the movie in the living room.
Movie of choice was “Storks”! We took a trip to Wal-Mart to pick out the movie and candy. There weren’t a lot of options. I was hoping for Trolls, but it wasn’t out yet, so maybe next time. After picking everything, we headed home, got in our jammies and settled in for a movie night. It was the perfect family night! Plus I stayed awake through the whole thing. That’s a miracle in and of itself!
Date Night Postponed
Shadrach and I had a date night scheduled for the second Saturday of the month like I mentioned here. Except, things didn’t exactly go as planned…
Long story short, my dad ended up in the hospital with a partial bowel obstruction on that weekend. Thankfully it resolved its self, and he was only in the hospital for one night. However, it did involve an ambulance ride, quite a few tests, and some strong pain medication.
It was a crazy 24 hours, and in all honesty, Shadrach and I probably could have slipped out for a bit that evening, but we were all so exhausted. So we just let it go and decided we’d try again in March. So here’s hoping we can squeeze in that time together this month sometime. 🙂
We Ventured Out to the Park
One thing about living in Ohio that has taken some getting used to is the fact that it doesn’t usually start warming up until about May. Or at least that’s how it seems. However, we had a VERY warm February. In fact, we had some days we could venture outside without jackets on! So we headed to the park. It’s about a ten-minute walk from our house, so we put Logan in his wagon and enjoyed the fabulously warm weather.
I know this weather isn’t normal, but a girl could get spoiled. 😉 We tried to soak up as much time outside as we could while it lasted. Now we have cold rain! 🙁
We Celebrated My Dad’s Birthday
February also happens to be my dad’s birth month and this year his day fell on a Saturday. He woke up to Logan telling him,” Happy Birthday!” and singing to him many MANY times. Logan loves birthdays, no matter whose it is, as long as there is birthday cake. 🙂
Shadrach had to work that morning. So mom and Logan made my dad’s cake from scratch. Then after Shadrach got home, we headed out to find a fun place for a special dinner.
Someone my dad works with mentioned a place in Wapakoneta, Ohio, which is about 30 minutes from us. So that’s the direction we headed. The place we tried to go to had over an hour wait, and we didn’t want to hang around that long, especially with a hungry four-year-old. So we improvised and found another little place there in Wapakoneta. It was okay, nothing to write home to mom about. The main thing is that we got to spend the evening together as a family.
To finish off the birthday celebrations, we headed back home and had some cake and ice cream. The best part in my opinion 🙂
So that is our February. Nothing all that exciting but the little bit of excitement that did happen wore me out! I guess we need things to be shaken up a bit from time to time. Let’s just hope that March continues to go better and we can get that date night in! 🙂 Although, we are running out of time! 🙂 How is your March going so far?
